Finishing Strong With These Biblical Truths
The world would have you believe that to finish anything strong you’d need anything other than the Bible.
Well, I’m here to let you know that that couldn’t be further from the truth.
When it comes to finishing strong, we need bible verses (or what I like to call Biblical Truths) to encourage us, keep us confident and keep us going.
My husband and I have our three year old in as many extra curricular activities as we can without overwhelming him (you know? quarantine babies). One of his activities, in my opinion, is kind of like gymnastics on steroids. This activity is once a week for 45 minutes and the kids are led by their coach to work together to get through obstacle courses, walk across balance beams, display their leadership abilities and so much more.
Before the kids get started, their coach prepares them for the days lesson. In preparation for each class, the kids must say their team chant, “I am smart, I am kind and I can do this!”. I mean it is literally so cute. The kids had hand and body gestures to go with it and everything.
Once the kids and their coach hit the 40 minute mark, in the midst of performing their task, the coach yells out, “Okay guys, finish strong! You’re almost there!”. And you should see the increase of enthusiasm and focus the children get to finish the task at hand.
Finishing Strong!
As Christians, we have a race marked before us that we must run with strength and endurance so that we can enable the grace God has bestowed upon us to finish strong. The following Biblical Truths (bible verses) about finishing the race strong will encourage and cheer us on in moments we believe we’re being defeated.
You can do this, friend. Finish strong Servant Leader. Pick your favorite Finish Strong Biblical Truth to keep in your back pocket. Let the whisper of the Holy Spirit turn into shouts of encouragement and confidence when you need that boost!
Finish Strong Biblical Truths
There are so many Biblical Truths on finishing strong, but here are a few of my favorites.
Philippians 3:14 | I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Jesus Christ, is calling us.
Philippians 1:6 | And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
2 Timothy 4:7 | I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.
Acts 20:24 | But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.
Ecclesiastes 7:8 | The end of a matter is better than its beginning; Patience of spirit is better than haughtiness of spirit.
2 Chronicles 15:7 | But as for you, be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded.
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 | Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step.
Isaiah 64:4 | He will sustain you.
Isaiah 41:13 | For I hold you by your right hand – I, the LORD your God. And I say to you, ‘Don’t be afraid. I am here to help you.’
Isaiah 40:28-31 | Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
2 John1:8 | Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked so hard to achieve. Be diligent so that you receive your full reward.
1 Peter 5:9 | Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are.
*Hebrews 12:1* | Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
The secret is in the next few verses: Hebrews 12:12 - So take a new grip with your tired hands and strengthen your weak knees. Mark out a straight path for your feet so that those who are weak and lame will not fall but become strong.
In order to finish strong, our eyes must be fixed on Jesus. We can finish the race strong through Jesus alone! To grow in our trust and dependence on Jesus Christ, we must seek Him throughout our day.
Use the following ideas as a kickstart to encourage you:
